Our conversation in this episode will answer the question.. Does a plant have a spirit?  And, if so,  can this spirit connect with our spirit for greater health and wellbeing?'

Since the beginning of time, when the traditional shaman-healer turned to the plant world, he turned to the spirits of the plants. It was the spirits of the plants that healed his patients. The spirits were his friends, his teachers, and his allies.

10 years ago Cameron was in the middle of the standard model of healthcare. She was 16 and became injured due to strenuous dance training.

A year later, after physical therapy didn’t help and she had to have surgery on both ankles. The surgery was complicated by the post operation care and her blood flow was restricted because of improperly applied casts. This lead to a large hematoma up the side of her right leg, blood blisters, and pressure sores, and to make things worse after she began physical therapy she realized that the surgery didn't repair the injury but made it worse.

The emotional and physical trauma of the operation paired with chronic, undiagnosed food allergies triggered a cascade of health issues. Over the course of 5 years she was having issues such as: ADD, anxiety, poor digestion, gas, hand warts, constipation, severe mood swings, depression, diabetes, hypothyroidism, vomiting with her cycles, either PCOS or Endometriosis, and adrenal fatigue.  The care she received had limited results and lacked compassion.

After 3 years of searching and a lengthening laundry list of health issues she discovered herbal medicine.

Cameron worked with traditional folk herbalist Darryl Patton for 2 years while earning her Biology Degree from the University of Montevallo. After graduation, she worked with the Birmingham Botanical Gardens in the Kaul Wildflower Garden honing her ID and native plant knowledge.

She then went to Williams, Oregon to work with the tincture company Herb Pharm and participate in their internship program.

Following that experience she found Clinical Herbalist Thomas Easley RH (AHG) and began her clinical Herb training. This rounded out her training combining nutrition, herbs, and supplements in his clinical training program and through him she discovered the world of Functional Medicine.

In her practice today, she utilizes herbs, supplements, and nutrition.

"There isn’t a week that goes by in my practice that someone doesn't tell me that they see results!"
